Old scraps–Meeting and parting, with knowing in-between

You will admire me fully and freely either when you have yet to know me, or when you have renounced me.
And flushed with your admiration, I will fail to see that you have left me long ago.
Kindred spirits knocking each other’s hulls in the night, a momentary touching of worlds before each casts away and furls back into their own universe.
Blown away, just like that, an old leaf from your tree. Your branches have found a greener hue to hold up to the sun in celebration. I am the natural past, and this your eternal present.
I am become the unified retainer of worlds.
