Some acolytes were discussing the “new.”
I said, I would like to encounter something new.
They said, this is new, these names, these people.
I said, no, the other new.
They fell back into silence, silencing me. 

Between our two wishes to hear that which is not there lie our worlds, still at odds.




Objective Correlatives

An island in midstream may feel frozen within tumultuous movement. Its nature prevents it from moving. Yet move it will, in bits and pieces, as the flow erodes and shapes its constituency through the unceasing violence of resistance. It becomes an invisibility of moveable parts, reconstituted at the mouth of some other stream as a sum of many islands, some essence of island in a condition of perpetual confluence.
